What We Do
Since November 2012, Operation Bed Spread has delivered over 1000 beds to the children of Southeast Georgia. These beds are recycled or purchased from donations and delivered free of charge to families in need. We are the only organization in the area that is focused solely on this mission.
Donating beds is not simply a series of unconnected stories, but is, in fact, a movement that changes the lives of less fortunate children.
How It Works
We ask for gently-used beds, bedding or donations from the generous people of the Southeast. When a bed is donated, with the help of our amazing volunteers, we pick it up and take it to our facility to be professionally sanitized. Only then does it get our Kid-Worthy seal of approval. Then it’s ready to be delivered to the family’s home and placed in the child’s room. The process is as simple as that! We don’t require any formal applications; all we ask is that the donated beds are in good condition. That means beds with stains and/or odors will not be accepted.
Since the rooms the beds go in are usually small, we prefer small beds like crib, twin and full. We do not accept queen or king size beds. We can take all parts of the bed or just partially, for example mattress only. Contact us to arrange your bed donation.
